Religions
Declared religious affiliation
Australia is secularising rapidly: the share of the population reporting no religion has more than doubled since 2001 and, as early as the 2016 census, overtook Catholics as the largest single group. Catholicism (about 20% of the population) remains the largest Christian denomination, ahead of Anglicanism. Immigration has also greatly diversified the religious landscape, with steadily growing Muslim, Hindu and Buddhist communities.
